Right, I'm guessing there's been a drop of viewership over the last weeks due to the infrequent updates caused by my diligent revision for examinations. It pays to be a good student you know.. yeah at the cost of my precious viewership. Time for some quick updates before my blog becomes dilapidated.

3 down, 2 more to go, 6 days to freedom.

Phew, finally the numbers are switching around to my favour. Have another paper on friday, but its a minor one. Doesnt mean I wont work hard for it, just taking a much needed break from all the work. Decided to make some arty farty stuff for you lovely folks who dropped by. All made from my photos (not quite sure bout the last one though, dun remember when I took it). Hope you enjoy them!

Be A Man.. Do The Right Thing

2 papers down, 3 more to go. 11 more days to freedom.
I'm not much of a statistician, but these numbers mean a lot to me. Have some things I look forward to after the exams. The nice thing about going through exams is that it kinda puts this hope in front of you. Like a low wall that you have to cross over to find that treasure on the other side? I kinda get that feeling right now, but the motivation to cross the low wall well is a tad low this weekend.

My laptop got diseased on thurs, just before my friday papers. I'm the type of "gadget geek, neat freak" person and I can't stand viruses or spywares lurking about on my computers. So i spent quite a fair bit of time attempting to clean up my system before hitting the books again. After my morning paper on friday, I went back to spend the rest of the day cleaning it up. Well, theorectically its clean now, but in the process I've lost some precious files, so my Internet Explorer and MediaPlayer doesnt work no more. Will probably have to fix it up AFTER the exams again. See? Everything you want to do HAS to be pushed to AFTER the exams.. *sigh*

I'm soooo looking forward to the holidays, though I might get into some hard times. Rough and tough it out, sort out my thoughts, make some decisions and more resolution. I have had many bombs dropped on me in my entire life, just dun want another one to fall on me. Not again. So for now, I'll just hafta tell myself..

The Battle Begins

The battle for middle earth (and my grades) begins tomorrow at 9.30am in Nanyang Auditorium. It's gonna be a long, grueling battle lasting til 4th May and I plan to give it everything I've got, though I'm not quite sure how much I've got in the first place. Ever had the feeling whereby the more you know, the more you realise you don't know? Well, I'm having plenty of that at the moment. Not that it's a bad thing, at least I get time to find out what I don't know BEFORE the exams start. But it's not very good for my morale, and I'm feeling a wee bit depressed too. Haha.. But help is always a prayer away, although I don't mean that God works at our every whim and fancy. More like He's gracious!

Okie, by hook or by crook, or every hocus pocus, I have to stay focused. Thank God I've got morons like Philip and Agent Yellow to joke with, everything under the sun goes. Here's my schedule for exams so you know when you can pray for me, and should NOT disturb me:

20/4 - Digital Communications
22/4 - Microprocessor Systems Design
27/4 - Software Engineering
29/4 - Professional Communications: Strategies & Skills
04/5 - Computer Graphics in Design

All 0930-1200 papers..

Hey, I was just kidding bout not disturbing me bit. As long as I'm online means I'm disturb-able. I'm always game for a chat, helps to take my mind off the stress and depression too. Wahaha.. Thanks for looking once again. Remember NOT to spam my Tagboard whilst I'm busy, especially you Zacky boy.

News Flash

In view of the latests updates from PM Lee with regards to Singapore having not one, but TWO integrated resorts with Casinos, Singapore's loan shark industry openly backed the proposal to build a casino yesterday, saying it would contribute greatly to their growth. Association of Hardship Loan Operators and Neighbourhood Gangsters(AHLONG) spokesman Dr. Chao Ah Beng told the Ministry of Finance today that the loan shark industry would benefit tremendously from the setting up of a casino.

"We know the Gahmen say the casino will bring in tax revenue lah, employ people lah, bring in money that is lost to Genting Highlands and casino cruises, lah, all that sort of thing," said Dr. Chao, "But it din'ch realize the casino will also boost our industry, which is another good reason for setting it up."Dr. Chao, who lectures in money-laundering and grievous bodily harm at Hoot U, the Geylang-based tertiary institution for bengs and lians, said the casino would enable the loan shark industry to diversify and upgrade its existing line of products."Last time, we all lend people money to pay off their gambling debts," he explained. "Now, with the casino, we can also offer them high interest loans to afford to pay the entry fee to get into the casino in the first place."

Dr. Chao also predicted a rise in their traditional service of debt recovery. "I would definitely invest in pork futures. With more gamblers, it makes sense that there will be more debtors, and a corresponding surge in demand for pig's heads."Dr. Chao, who also pens an occasional advice column for TalkingC***.com, also announced that Hoot U hopes to sign a memorandumof understanding with the proposed casino. "The casino sure need bouncers to keep the riff-raff out, ah lians to attract the highrollers, heavies to hoot cheater bugs, that sort of thing, and Hoot U is the region's premier producer for manpower in these sectors. So we hope to establish an internship on-the-job-training programme."In other casino-related news, legendary Las Vegas casino operator Harrah's has announced that it will be changing its name to "Harry's" in order to improve its bidding prospects for the Singapore project.

Persie and the Pizza Thief

First of all, my apologies for the dumb poems over the last week, so I'll be writing some things more substantial today. Alright, at this point of time I'm holding the keys to my dad's car.. In fact I had access to it the whole day. Drove it to church for practice and zipped home immediately. Was wondering if I wanted a spin over the evening for fun, but decided ah well, ain't no fun spinning alone. No one would want to eat supper anyway. Hence the start of my story..

ARSEnal wins 3-0!! Amazing stuff. Must admit the match was boring, rough and "foul stenched". Til the dude Persie appeared. Robin Van Persie is amazing.. Those 2 goals in the last 7 minutes were absolutely stunning. If you're gonna watch the replay of the match, just watch from 85th minute onwards. Finally someone to fill the boots of the great Dutch Dennis Bergkamp, aka my all-time Holland Hero. Persie doesnt have the creativity of the great dutch, but he sure has the footwork and not to mention, finishing. Brilliant young man, hope Holland thrives on the 2 vans.. RvP and RvN from ManYoo.

Secondly, as I was checking my email after the match, I came across an interesting headline on Yahoo news. It read..
"Pizza stolen from delivery man's motorcycle in West Coast Rd". What the.. Haha, that's a first. I can probably think of 2 possible suspects here. One is Michaelangelo from Ninja turtles, the other is our beloved Agent Yellow. Love of pizza is one thing, but to steal a pizza from a poor delivery boy? That's absurd. Can read about it here.

Speaking of which, I think I've lost some weight (not on purpose) over the last few weeks or so. My meals go as such, 1x banana + 1x oreo cookie for lunch. Normal dinner.. and if the occasion allows, light supper. My appetite's been bad too, but been drinking lots of water. Is that a sign of stress Doc?

I still have the car keys, so anyone wants supper? I could get some chips, drinks and deliver it to your place if ya wanna. Drop me a message! Haha..

EDIT (1am).. Mr Jon Wong, I'm ready to flush myself down the toilet bowl.

To Serve or Study?

I'm at home once again, despite my resolution a few weeks back that I'll be staying in Hostel to study. Came back home this week because I'll be taking over singing for Mel for 17th April, so I'll need to be in church for practice on Saturday. Was thinking, since I'll be out for Saturday noon cos of practice, might as well be around for ESL meeting on Friday night at David's place. And so, here I am.. back home again after the meeting + prata supper.

Can I say what I think? It was a struggle to decide whether to take over Mel for singing, took me 3 mins to make up my mind. This semester happens to be the
toughest semester of the (most will agree) toughest course in NTU, so it's a pretty bad equation for me. I'm normally not the kind that will worry bout exams, but I'm just honestly hoping to pass all and get this academic year done and over with. Gosh, I've really got soooooooo much to look forward to after the exams they make my heart skip a beat, for a good reason. But as for now, perseverance will have to pull me through and of cos the grace of God. I can't count the number of minutes I've spent praying over the last week for just about everything going on in my heart. There's so much I want to say, do and sometimes even sing but I can't.. If God has His ears on a cellphone for prayers, I think they'll be sore from mine. Thank You Lord for hearing me out, and being the only One most of the time.

You know? I only burst out in poetic shorts when I'm emotional. Haha.. for all the poems I've put up here, believe me I had made lots more in prayer. Yes, I do pray in poems, ryhmes and song to God. :) Wanted to write another poem tonight after driving home, but I've got to study study study. Okie, how bout just a short one? Hehe.

Looking afar, ahead, a long road to tread
I'll brave it all, I'll take the first step
Deaf to all but your sweet song, perhaps I might just find where I belong..

The Anvil

I have an Anvil, powerful peace-loving and pure
She glitters with each sunray, unrivalled from days before
Strong and bold, she stands tall with unsurpassed courage
I watch her daily, from my laptop, as I slurp on my porridge

When dawn breaks the darkness of the yester night
Before the birds sing their chirpy sounds with soft delight
I ponder over my comfy, feathered slumberland pillow
"Dear Anvil, mind me not for being a nosey fellow.."

I have an Anvil, marvellous meek and melodious
She speaks my heart to flutter, for you I'm all ears
Refined and charming, she is the hope of all men
For you my Anvil, I could perpetually give up durian

When dusk falls and the sun hides behind the mountains
I wonder what line should be next, but end up with this nonsense
With all the examinations around the corner, so silly a time it seems
This Anvil in my heart, might end up being but a fragment of my dreams

Hope not! ^^

My River

My river runs to thee.
Blue sea, wilt thou welcome me?
My river awaits reply.
Oh! Sea, look graciously.

I’ll fetch thee brooks
from spotted nooks.
Say, sea,
Take me!

Emily Dickinson
(1830 - 1886)

I like you lah.
Are you willing to accept me?
My feelings are awaiting yours.
Oh! Please gimme a chance.

I'll give you my all, from every recess and corner.
Say, my lovely,
"Okay Okay lah!"

Daniel Yan
(1982-Present)

I'm quite the guy with wordy flair. Found an interesting poem, for all to share.
Interesting love declaration, bold with passion. Right side's mine, the contemporary version! Enjoy.. :)

Studying All Over

Hey folks! Thanks for tuning in once more to this somewhat boring channel. A channel with not much interesting updates, lest the once in a while rants apart from exam preparation. Well, sad to disappoint you. Tonight will be another b-o-r-i-n-g update of my revision for exams. Hehe..

Okie, it all started this morning at 9.15am when I woke up half dazed. No choice, promised Philip to meet him at Orchard to study so.. sigh. Hehe, well we had a quickie breakfast at Delifrance in Ngee Ann City then proceeded to
Library@Orchard hoping find some nice study tables to stick there til the end of the day. But it was not to be.. The library opens at 11am sharp and we reached at about 11.15am with the large tables taken up, leaving us with the small ones at the Cafe. Not too ethical to take up the Cafe tables without purchasing their stuff, so Philip bought one cup of Frap which lasted us 1.5hrs. Haha! We decided to leave at 1pm cos I got access to my dad's car. Picked up the car at my place, picked up Agent Yellow (have to keep his identity secret cos he's from the Indian Secret Forces), then zipped off to NIE library to study.

By the time lunch break was over and we had settled in the NIE library, it was already 3.30pm. Bah.. library opening hours, closes at 5pm. So we had to relocate before then..

*Posting paused for 10min due to attempt to murder mosquito which had landed approx 10 painful bites on my feet*

Parked at NorthSpine of NTU to check out
Library 1. Wa closing time 7pm.. whats the diff? Ended up studying in Canteen A, which wasn't so bad after all. Windy, nice spot.. and even has a hidden powerpoint beside the pillar for my lovely laptop. And so, it's 10 plus now and I'm still in Canteen A, finished my revision for the day. Well done.. You've stayed to the end of the b-o-r-i-n-g entry, and I've persevered! Hurray for perseverance! :)

*Owwwwie.. my feet are really swollen all over the place now. Super itchy and painful can? I think the mosquito's family came over for the funeral*

Alright, leave u lovely folks with a postcard pic I've just made from one of my photos.

Is it time yet?

Went for a job "interview" today. Supposedly for the role of a financial adviser. I'm not quite sure about the risk and all, but in the back of my mind, I do remember cases I've heard whereby the financial adviser has to beg relatives to buy insurances to meet the monthly quota.

My supposed manager is a multi millionaire, has 3 properties, 2 cars and a family of 5. He started earning approximately SGD $200,000 a year by his 5th year of work, when he was in his late 20's. He's a brilliant man, and a Christian too. But I'm not too sure if I can take his success story as something I can work towards to. Need prayer for sure, though he's willing to take me under his wing. Here's the other thing, I was only recommended by word of mouth from my auntie to him but it seems like he's certain that he wants me to work for him already. Today was the first day we met, and we were already speaking about the courses which I need to go through before joining him. At this point of time, his secretary has already signed me up and he gave me his word he would subsidise half of the course fee for me.

It's kinda daunting the nice picture he painted today. It's really a wowser, earning $3k a month as an undergraduate doing part-time, from just getting 10 clients a month for as little as $50/mth per client. And the pay increments each year, by half of your total earnings from last year. Making it $4.5k a month on the second year, and the same increments go on for the next year as well! The thing about the job is that it's contracted, though for how long I'm not quite sure of. But if I sign above the dotted lines, I'll start work this May and through the predefined period.

Another amazing thing is that I've told my prospective manager about my Church camp dates, and Sydney trip. He says we can try to work around it, and when his secretary and I were checking on the course dates, they fitted perfectly in the times when I'm in SG!! Coincidence? I might think not.. *ponder ponder..*

Pray with me yar? Oh yes, I'll be studying with Philip tomorrow at Taka library from 11am til night. So do say hi if you see me there... Haha. Or jio me for meals/tea breaks if you happen to be around the area.

Hmm.. my heart has been pounding like mad for the last few days as well. Haven't had that kinda feeling for a long long time. Daniel seldom gets jittery, as most of you might know. But it's coming back to me again.. Is it time yet? Rats.

I'm awake!

I'm awake.. Weee mong mong. I'm awake.. Weee mong mong!

Been studying, so that feels good. Know more now, and that feels better.
13 more days to exams, such a drag. 27 more days to freedom, ah the life thereafter.
Hmm.. have an avid reader, so mysterious. Flattered and blush-worthy, totally curious.
Sleeping this late at night, makes me wonder. Wake up early, or sleep til rapture?
Another day of mugging, eeeww. Books and notes awaits, plus online lecture.
Skipping meals, a commodity. Durian for supper, sure makes me sleepy.
But I'm glad for now, happy and gay. Cos I've been up to study, so I can say..

I'm awake.. Weee mong mong. I'm awake.. Weee mong mong!

Showtime!

Hey kids, guess what time is it? Its time for Daniel's weekly rant! ! Yay.. *Applause*

(Opening theme song begins..)

Daniel the Clown: "Hello kids, it's been a long while since I last had fun with you all. Have you been good children?"
Kids (unanimous): "Noooooooooooooooooooo.."
Daniel: "That's alright, cos not like I really care anyway. Haha.."
(Blur look on kids' face)

Daniel: "Alright, before your parents decide to off the TV and my viewership drops, let's go on with the show!"
Kids (unanimous): "Nooooooooooooooooooo.."
Daniel: "Oh that's alright, not like I'll care anyway. Haha.."
(Parents off the TV)

Daniel: "For those lucky kids who're still watching, here's what happened today. I woke up this morning and got up to wash up. So, the usual, nothing new. But it was raining cats and dogs, and I mean CATS AND DOGS outside. Do you know what that means kids?"
(Awkward pause)

Daniel: "Oh not like I'll care anyway. Haha.. Okie, so it was raining cats and dogs. It was so cold, I had a shirt, jeans and a windbreaker on myself. But nooooo.. that was not enough, I still caught a cold somehow. My nose was dripping, sneezing and awfully unpleasing. Had no choice but to lie back down for awhile. Made me miss my lectures but had a good rest though. Dream I had a new house. Have u had a new house before kids..?"
(Interrupts himself)

Daniel: "Well, not like I care anyway. Haha.. Alright, so after lunch I was feeling playful and decided to have a teaspoon of 'Nimh Jiom Pi Pa Gao' for fun. Got a teaspoon of that thick, minty substance in my mouth, tilted my head back and that silly gooey lot went straight into my oesophagus(windpipe)!!?!?!? I choked like mad for a bout 10 minutes and coughed for the next hour or so while tearing. Certainly wasn't a pleasing feeling. Every cough I made, I could feel sweet substance at the back of my throat.. Eww.. Do you know how that feels like kids?"
(Kids shake head)

Daniel: "Of cos not, do you even care?! Haha.. Okie, I had my long overdue haircut tonight at Jurong Point at the barber's. Man, did that guy totally let me down tonight. I trusted him so much I didn't even look in the mirror after the cut, not til I showered and looked at myself in the mirror. My spikes are so looooooooooonnggggggggggggg.. No wonder he finished so fast. I might be needing clay instead of Gatsby in the next month. Bleh... OH!!! Do you know what time it is now kids?"
(Kids nod head)

Daniel: "Of cos you don't, but who cares?! We've just ran out of time tonight. It's time to say goodbye. See you soon you lovely kiddos.. Remember, no one loves you or your viewership more than Daniel the Clown!"

(Closing theme song begins)

Balik Kampung

I'm at home now.. WHAT AM I DOING HERE? I had actually planned to stay in hostel over the entire weekend, go to church on Sunday morning and back to hostel at dusk. Plans twarted by non-other-than-mine stupidity. Sigh..

Returned back to hostel late at night on Easter Sunday, took a cab at 11.30pm. Spent the entire week in hostel, going out for sumptuous dinners and the occasional lunch out of school. BUT only found out that my EZ-Link card was left at home on FRIDAY NIGHT?! w0000000000t.. Fortunately my roomate, Philip, had a car the entire week so I could survive with good meals (without realizing that I had no EZLink Card). It was until Friday night when I had to eat dinner with Arjun in Gek Poh Shopping Centre when I realized my card was left at home.

So what's the big deal you might ask? Well, firstly I can't study for nuts at home. And secondly, because I don't study, I'm super B-O-R-E-D now. Hmm.. so where should I take the car for dinner? *ponders ponders*
